GENERAL
Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Community Center Director, performs a variety of clerical and administrative tasks at the customer service counter to support the overall operation of the Department and its programs during late afternoons, evenings and weekends.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Processes registrations for Department programs and provides information and assistance to the general public regarding programs and services.
Answers phones and greets walk-in customers, responds to inquiries, and/or directs customers to the appropriate staff member.
Receives payments for program registration.
Verifies and processes funds received in cash, check, and credit card form.
Assigns funds to appropriate program categories utilizing the software registration program.
May assist with preparation of program mailings, class lists, and program materials and handouts.
May assist with editing and proof reading seasonal brochures, and other documents.
Assists with departmental correspondences.
Assists in scheduling tennis courts and ball fields for Town citizens.
Prepares end of shift paperwork, including transaction reports, credit card transactions and secures receipts and cash.
Maintains a variety of print and electronic files and records for the Department.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail on a daily basis.
May perform special projects and other related duties as required, directed, or as the situation dictates.
Regular attendance at the workplace is required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION &
Experience:
High School diploma with a minimum of one year of increasingly responsible related administrative support experience.

Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
Modern office procedures, methods and computer/software equipment.
Principles and procedures of record keeping.
Business letter writing and basic report preparation techniques.
Basic mathematical and accounting processes.
Effective customer service techniques.
Ability to:
Perform responsible administrative support services involving the use of independent judgment.
Coordinate multiple tasks while working in a busy environment with frequent interruptions.
Operate computer and various software necessary for performing assigned duties.
Type at a speed necessary for successful job performance.
Work independently in the absence of supervision.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and maintain effective working relationships.
Effectively handle an environment which involves close contact with coworkers and the public.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a highly trafficked, busy office with frequent interruptions.
Operates computer, printer, photocopier, fax machine, typewriter, and other office equipment.
Work requires extended periods of sitting, reaching, typing, and mousing, which requires eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.
