Aquila is seeking a Space Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizationsThe g roup develops space, airborne, and terrestrial prototypes with innovative solutions to challenging national security problemsOur teams handle most of the large prototype systems developed by the facility, including space payloads and satellites for sensing and communication, and airborne and ground-based systemsExample projects include satellite sensors, space-based and ground-based laser communications systems, airborne laser radar, imaging systems on both manned and unmanned aircraft, and small satellitesThere are a few requirements for the position:
o Must be a U.S Citizen (Green Cards / Visas do not qualify)o Willingness to undergo a comprehensive background investigation and maintain a personal security clearance(Aquila would sponsor you for the security clearance.)o Must be within commutable distance of Lexington, MassachusettsWhat You'll Do:
The selected candidate will work on a team performing systems engineering activities for a large programResponsibilities include developing, flowing down, and tracking requirements, architecting systems, developing an MBSE model of the systems and their interfaces, planning and leading verification and validation activities, identifying risks, and defining risk mitigation strategies What You'll Bring:
o Bachelor's Degreeo 7 years of Systems Engineeringo 2 years of Model-based systems engineeringo 2 years of SysML experience Working Knowledge of the Following:
o A Bachelors Degree in Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aero/Astro, Software Engineering, or related fields and at least 7 years of relevant experience with systems engineering for space or airborne systemsA MS degree or PhD can be substituted for years of experience.o The ability to support a full range of systems engineering activities for multiple programso The ability to use a systems perspective to identify needed technology development effortso Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teamso Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce and present professional written reports and presentationso Experience with SysML Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools is required.o Experience with integration of hardware and software is helpful And These Skills are a Bonus:
