Job Title: Senior IT Systems Administrator
Location: Lexington, MA
Duration: 12 months and 40hr/wk
Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain a Security Clearance for access to classified information.

Job Description:
Our client is looking for a Senior IT Systems Administrator to work as part of a team providing systems administration support services. You should have experience in a well-run IT organization and apply best practices knowledge in this environment. You will be responsible for supporting workstations, servers, and network devices in one of the many technical research groups in this organization. You should have a solid understanding of Linux, Windows, and network fundamentals. Experience and/or desire to work in a research and development organization are imperative. You must be team oriented, have strong communication skills, and must be able to work independently and further the goals of the organization without immediate direction. It is also important to be comfortable dealing with very technical end-users.
Responsibilities include:
Support installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of computer and network equipment
Supporting Windows, Linux, and UNIX based platforms and applications
Review and test new hardware and software applications and making recommendations for purchases
Design and implement shell scripts and other tools to automate processes and provide needed capabilities to technical staff
Contribute to and lead projects to improve aspects of the computing and network infrastructure such as data storage, back and recovery, network bandwidth and throughput, application installation and management, etc.
Help design and implement configuration management and monitoring of systems and networks
Assist in configuration of network devices such as routers and switches
Collaborate with other group personnel throughout the organization to enhance technology and support practices.
Required
Experience:
Bachelor?s degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
3-4 years of experience with Linux systems administration including configuration management, software installation/configuration (packages and building from source), network configuration, kernel configuration and installation, etc.
3-4 years of experience supporting and troubleshooting Windows workstations and applications in a networked environment

years supporting, configuring, and maintaining VMware or related technology
Experience installing and configuring routers and switches
Experience with automated installation systems for Linux (Kickstart)
Experience installing, configuring, and operating network services such as DNS, DHCP, NIS, NFS, SSH, SAMBA, etc.
Ability to understand and modify basic to moderately complex shell scripts using redirection, pipes, variables, loops, and conditional statements
Must be able to demonstrate experience or knowledge of configuration management and monitoring systems
Required Abilities:
You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record with all of these abilities to be considered
Self-motivated, attitude of ownership, and a strong desire to learn
Customer service skills, communication skills, and a positive attitude
Excellent written and verbal communication is essential
Attention to detail, comprehensive problem and troubleshooting solving skills
Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
Miscellaneous:
MUST be able to go through the process to receive Security Clearance (SECRET)
