We are seeking Tax/Audit Associates for our Lexingtonoffice to start in October of 2018. As an Associate, you will provide audit and tax services to clients, with a primary focus on developing expertise within a specific industry. You will utilize your accounting educational background and internship experience to assist in all stages of an engagement or project; most commonly review engagements, procedures engagements, or basic tax issues, providing support and leverage to seniors and others.
Position Summary
The Associate (industry professional) provides audit, tax, consulting, or other services to clients, with a primary focus on developing expertise within a specific industry. As an industry professional, s/he may initially focus efforts in one or more industries, and is working towards becoming an advisor to clients within a specific industry. S/he assists in all stages of an engagement or project; most commonly review engagements, procedures engagements, or basic tax issues, providing support and leverage to Seniors and others. S/he begins to understand the full suite of services the firm can offer, particularly how each can be delivered to meet the needs of clients in a particular industry.
Work Activities & Accountabilities
The below functions reflect the general details of the essential work activities and accountabilities of this position and are not all inclusive. Other activities may be assigned.
Industry Service: Gains experience, exposure, and knowledge in one or more industries. Expands industry knowledge through greater exposure to peers, internal experts, clients, regular self-study, and formal training opportunities. Begins to target a specifically defined industry to develop deeper knowledge and expertise within. Provides a variety of services to clients within the industry.
Assurance: performs the detail work of audits, reviews, some compilations, and other assurance services for clients. S/he collects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policies. S/he helps build detailed reports on audit findings. Supports multiple client engagements on time and within budget, identifying issues, recommending solutions and communicating progress and audit results to supervisors. Completes assigned portions of engagements with consistency and accuracy and within tight time frames. S/he starts to direct small audits in time.
Tax: Prepares and reviews tax returns with the tax team. Handles routine client tax questions and works with clients to collect necessary information for tax return completion and compliance. Completes tax related research and special projects as needed.
Other Services: May provide other services to clients within the industry. Details on those services and requirements can be found in the appropriate description.
Technical Competencies. General knowledge of accounting principles and/or regulations impacting each engagement or project, financial markets, analysis and reporting of financial data. Understand internal software systems including Pfx Fixed Assets, GoFileRoom, Pfx Engagement, Pfx Tax, etc. Proficiency with Microsoft (MS) Windows and MS Office products is necessary.
Organizational Interfaces
The Associate works with a variety of staff including Seniors, Managers, Directors, and Principals on assigned projects. S/he reports directly to a Manager, Director, or Principal and may receive work direction from a Senior on smaller engagements or projects.
S/he interacts with a variety of industry and service professionals across the firm to deliver seamless service capabilities to clients in the industry.
S/he is aligned with a career coach (who may or may not be the same as the direct supervisor) to help with career planning, be an advocate for the experiences needed to reach goals, navigate the firm's resources, and share insights, expertise, and guidance to develop his/her full potential.

RequirementsMinimum Required Experience, Education, and Certifications

Experience: College graduate or demonstrated success as an entry-level accountant with an exposure to financial statement preparation, audits, reviews, and/or tax preparation (with appropriate education).
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Certifications/Licenses: Eligible to sit for CPA preferred.

Individuals in client-serving positions must be able to travel to/from client sites, as required.
Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. Client environments may vary, depending on services provided, but most, if not all, work will be performed in a traditional office setting under normal working conditions.
Travel: This position requires frequent local travel to/from client sites and may require occasional non-local or overnight travel for client visits, training, meetings and/or other business-related purposes.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
