Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Mechanical Engineering Group provides innovative mechanical design solutions for advanced technology prototypes utilizing state-of-the-art design techniques, materials and fabrication processes. The group works on a wide variety of prototype development efforts that span multiple Laboratory mission areas and various equipment platforms including ground, maritime, airborne, and spaceborne. Areas of expertise include mechanisms, precision engineering, opto-mechanics, electronics packaging and large structures. Engineers from the group are critical to all aspects of prototype development beginning with conceptual design, continuing through detail design, system integration and test, and concluding with environmental performance testing. The group is the Engineering Division's center for 3D computer-aided design, mechanical design tools and design methodologies. Example projects include airborne and space-based laser communications systems, high energy laser systems, space optical payloads, and large radar antenna systems.


Job Description:

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team on the development of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical systems. Responsibilities include engineering design, analyses, integration, and testing of complex hardware from conceptual design through fabrication and field performance evaluation. The candidate must be knowledgeable in a broad range of challenging problems involving structures, mechanisms and opto-mechanical systems. The successful candidate will be expected to present engineering designs to both internal and external audiences. This position involves working in close-knit teams and may involve travel to meetings and field sites.

Requirement:

Demonstrated experience in mechanical design and development of complex opto-mechanical or precision engineered systems that must function in harsh environments is highly desired. Experience in aerospace applications is preferred. Must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, and require little or no supervision.

PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or MS with 10
years of applicable experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
