The Energy Systems Group focuses on energy related challenges facing the United States and the Department of Defense.
The group works on diverse programs including tactical microgrid development, installation energy resilience, and advanced energy technologies.
The group leads system analysis on the gaps between infrastructure and operational requirements, fields functional aluminum energy and battery prototypes, and simulates device-level hardware controller performance.
Projects are conducted in a small team environment, leveraging resources from within Lincoln Laboratory to successfully execute nationally important and cutting edge efforts.

Job Description

The Energy Systems Group seeks an engineer with the ability to contribute to many program areas.
In particular, we seek someone with the desire to increase the resilience of the nation to a wide range of natural and manmade disasters, with an initial emphasis on resilience of the energy systems.
The candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team to:
lead teams in conducting real-world power outage exercises revealing gaps in infrastructure capabilities, perform analysis and propose solutions to increase capabilities and resilience of existing systems, and research advanced energy technologies.
Prior experience with machine design, thermal engineering and analysis, mechanical controls design, the intersection of chemical and mechanical engineering, developing and prototyping new energy technologies, and experience with hazardous materials is also highly desired.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.
    D.
    in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or professionals with a MS and 3
    years of technical experience.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong focus on critical thinking and solution generation.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing environments.
  • Ability to continually prioritize objectives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Travel up to 25% on average per year.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Desired skills:

  • Experience with electrical engineering concepts.
  • Exposure to system analysis concepts.
  • Experience leading small teams and presenting to outside organizations.
  • Experience with field testing critical equipment.
  • Experience with machine design, thermal engineering and analysis, and mechanical controls design.
  • Experimental lab work developing and prototyping new energy devices.
  • Familiarity with working with hazardous materials.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
